In an industry first, a SATA 3.3-compliant Power Disable (PWDIS) feature allows power management in individual SSD units to maximise the energy efficiency of tomorrow’s datacenters (host support required). Utilising the latest 10nm class process technology and LPDDR4 DRAM, the PM883 consumes just 2.8 watts of power when reading and 3.7 watts when writing, surpassing the power efficiency of even Helium-filled hard drives.
Boasting a top capacity up to 7.68 TB in a 2.5-inch form factor, the PM883 SSD saves valuable space without extra power consumption or compromise in performance thanks to Samsung's latest ground breaking 64-layer V-NAND technology. The PM883 delivers high random Input/Output Operations Per Second (IOPS), lower latency, higher reliability and reduced Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) under mixed workloads, and is ideal for Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), streaming or Web servers.
Achieve high endurance with V-NAND technology
The PM883 SSD features cutting-edge Samsung V-NAND technology that stacks the vertical layers in three dimensions, solving the cell-to-cell interference that causes data corruption in planar NAND. This technology leads to increased capacity on the same footprint, as well as increased performance, endurance and power efficiency - all essentials for data centers.
Ensure data integrity for improved reliability
The Samsung PM883 lowers the probability of data corruption and maintains a high level of data integrity along the entire data transfer path by detecting and remedying signal discrepancies in real time using a built-in Error Correcting Code (ECC) engine.
Power-Loss Protection guards against data corruption or loss in the write cache in the event of power failure using built-in tantalum capacitors. The Dynamic Thermal Guard algorithm monitors the temperature of the SSD by throttling back the performance in order to prevent thermal shutdown.

The PM883 boasts a better performance-power ratio than mechanical drives. This power-efficiency reduces the operating costs of data centers. The NAND flash-based PM883 provides high reliability, guaranteed with 2 Million Hours Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and the Total Bytes Written up to 5,466 TBW (Tera Bytes Written) over 3 years for the 3.8TB model, and 10,932 TBW for the 7.68TB model.
